NSEC / IChO — Overview
Overview
NSEC (National Standard Examination in Chemistry) is Stage 1 of the International Chemistry Olympiad (IChO) pathway. Conducted by IAPT for Class 11 & 12 students.
The 5-stage journey: NSEC → INChO → OCSC → PDC → IChO
Organized by HBCSE in collaboration with IAPT.
5-Stage Selection
Stages / Rounds
- Stage 1 — NSEC: Objective exam. 300-500 selected. November.
- Stage 2 — INChO: Indian National Chemistry Olympiad. ~30-35 selected. February.
- Stage 3 — OCSC: Camp at HBCSE. Theory & experiments. 4-6 selected for India team.
- Stage 4 — PDC: Pre-Departure Camp. 8-10 days at HBCSE.
- Stage 5 — IChO: International Chemistry Olympiad. India sends 4 students.
